This sign is also near the exit of the Shannon Airport terminal. It gives directions
to local places in both Gaelic (old Irish language, it is indicated in italics on the
sign) and English. You may notice that the roadway goes around a circle (called a
roundabout in Europe), but it goes around clockwise. It is because in Ireland, they
drive on the left side of the roadway. The big rudder is from a 707 jet aircraft.
There is a company located in Shannon that boasts it has the world's largest inventory
of 707 parts.
